Makkah to Madinah Taxi: FAQs

How much is a taxi from Makkah to Madinah?

A private taxi from your hotel in Makkah to your hotel in Madinah starts from 350 SAR in a Toyota Camry for up to 4 passengers. Families can book a Hyundai Staria (430 SAR), Toyota Hiace (550 SAR) or GMC Yukon XL (750 SAR), and groups can choose a Toyota Coaster (800 SAR) or a 44-seat Yutong bus (1,100 SAR). The fare is fixed and agreed before you travel.

Is the Makkah to Madinah taxi fare per person or per vehicle?

All our fares are per vehicle, not per person. The price covers everyone travelling in the vehicle, so a family of four in a Camry pays 350 SAR in total.

How long does a taxi take from Makkah to Madinah?

The drive is about 450 km and usually takes 4.5 to 5 hours, depending on traffic and how many stops you make. If you travel via Badr, allow extra time for the visit.

Can we visit Badr on the way to Madinah?

Yes. Our via-Badr option takes the route past Badr so you can visit the site of the Battle of Badr and the martyrs' graveyard before continuing to Madinah. It costs a little more than the direct transfer; see the via-Badr fares above.

Can we stop for prayer or food on the way?

Yes. Just tell your driver when you would like to stop for prayer, a meal or a rest, and they will pull in at a suitable service station on the highway.

How much luggage can I bring?

A Camry fits 2 large and 2 small bags, a Hyundai Staria about 5 large and 3 small, a Toyota Hiace about 10 large bags and a GMC Yukon XL about 6. For larger groups, a Toyota Coaster carries about 15 large bags and the Yutong bus has a full luggage hold.

Should I take a taxi or the Haramain train from Makkah to Madinah?

The Haramain train is faster on the main journey, but it runs between stations, so you need transport to Makkah station and again from Madinah station to your hotel, carrying your luggage each time. A taxi goes straight from hotel to hotel. If you prefer the train, we also offer hotel to station transfers in both cities from 100 SAR.

Can I book Makkah to Madinah as part of a package?

Yes. Our Umrah packages combine your airport transfers, the Makkah to Madinah journey and ziyarat tours in one booking. See the packages section above for prices by vehicle.
