Many pilgrims perform more than one Umrah during their stay, for themselves or on behalf of a loved one. Because you are already in Makkah, you first need to go outside the Haram boundary to a Miqat to enter ihram. The two places pilgrims go are Masjid Aisha (also called Masjid Ayesha or Tan'im) and Masjid al-Ji'ranah.

Our Miqat taxi from Makkah picks you up from your hotel, waits at the mosque while you change, pray two rak'ahs and make your intention, then drops you back near the Haram to begin your tawaf. The fare is fixed per vehicle and includes the return. See all fares below, or our full Umrah taxi pricing for every route.

Choose Your Miqat

Both are valid places to enter ihram for an Umrah from Makkah.

1
Masjid Aisha (Tan'im)
The nearest Miqat to the Haram, about 7 km away and usually 15 to 20 minutes each way. It is where Aisha (RA) entered ihram for Umrah in the time of the Prophet ï·º, and it is the most popular choice for pilgrims in Makkah. Also known as Masjid Ayesha. From 100 SAR.
2
Masjid al-Ji'ranah
About 25 to 30 km north-east of Makkah, usually 30 to 40 minutes each way. The Prophet ï·º entered ihram here for Umrah after the Battle of Hunayn, so many pilgrims choose it to follow his example. From 120 SAR.

Masjid Aisha & Ji'ranah: FAQs

Why do I need to go to Masjid Aisha for another Umrah?

Anyone who is already in Makkah and wants to perform another Umrah must first go outside the boundary of the Haram to enter ihram. Masjid Aisha at Tan'im is the nearest place to do this, so most pilgrims go there, put on ihram, pray and make their intention, then return to the Haram to perform Umrah.

How much is a taxi from Makkah to Masjid Aisha?

A taxi from your Makkah hotel to Masjid Aisha and back to the Haram starts from 100 SAR in a Toyota Camry for up to 4 passengers. A Hyundai Staria is 130 SAR, a Toyota Hiace 200 SAR, a GMC Yukon XL 220 SAR and a Toyota Coaster 300 SAR.

How much is a taxi to Masjid al-Ji'ranah?

A taxi from your Makkah hotel to Masjid al-Ji'ranah and back starts from 120 SAR in a Camry. A Staria is 150 SAR, a Hiace or GMC Yukon XL 250 SAR, a Coaster 350 SAR and a Yutong bus 400 SAR.

Is the price per person or per vehicle?

All our fares are per vehicle, not per person. The price covers everyone travelling in the vehicle, so a family of four in a Camry pays 100 SAR in total for Masjid Aisha.

Does the driver wait while we enter ihram?

Yes. Your driver waits while you change, pray two rak'ahs and make your intention, then brings you back to the Haram so you can perform your Umrah.

Which is better, Masjid Aisha or Ji'ranah?

Both are valid places to enter ihram for an Umrah from Makkah. Masjid Aisha is closer and quicker, which suits elderly pilgrims and busy times. Ji'ranah is further, and some pilgrims choose it because the Prophet ï·º entered ihram there. The choice is yours.

Can you drop us at the Haram instead of our hotel?

Yes. Most pilgrims ask to be dropped as close to the Haram as possible so they can start their tawaf straight away. Tell your driver where you would like to be dropped.

What is the best time to go to the Miqat?

Late at night or after Fajr is usually quietest, both at the mosque and at the Haram for your tawaf and sa'i. Ramadan evenings and Fridays are the busiest times.
